Western Road Trip 07

Our plan was to visit the Princess and her family in Longmont CO.
We left on the 18th at about 5:00am for I-80 and points west. Our first site seeing stop was a double, Winterset Iowa and The Bridges of Madison County (there are five of nineteen left we stopped at at two) and John Wayne’s birthplace (371mls).  Next up was Kearney NA. (308.9mls) and the Great Platte River Road Archway we stayed overnight at the Marriott's Fairfield Inn. Left in the morning for Longmont CO. and Pam & Rick's house (357.2mls) arriving early afternoon. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard while in Longmont (0.8mls). Then we left on the 21st for our side trip up in the mountains with Pam & Rick as our tour guides staying two nights in Glenwood Springs (181.8mls) at the Hotel Colorado and one night in Leadville (88.2mls) at the Columbine Inn. Then back to Longmont and Pam & Rick's (125mls). We left on the 26th and took the long way home. We started out going up to Montana (481.1mls) and visiting the Crow Indian Center and Little Bighorn Battlefield then taking I-90 and traveling around 200 miles or so and spent the night in Wall, SD. Next morning it was off to Rt 14 and Walnut Grove in Minnesota and some stops along the Rt14 tour of Laura Ingall’s Little house on the Prairie site’s then headed for home (1044.9mls from LBH) with a over night stop in Newville, WI. We traveled 3160.6 miles, not counting the 3 day mountain trip with Pam & Rick. We stopped everywhere we set out to and then some, with the exception of The Laura Ingalls Wilder Park and Museum.
